I cannot admit to have ever seen a moment of the television series Teen Titans Go! (I haven't even heard of its existence prior to watching this film), but it really isn't necessary to enjoy this film if you're aware of the DC superheroes that it's parodying.

The plot sees Robin (of the Batman world) and his group of lesser known superheroes wanting to be stars of their own superhero movie, but are laughed out of town because nobody wants to see a movie about sidekicks.  They engage in a battle with villain, Slade, hoping it will attract filmmaker Jade Wilson to their heroics and earn them the big budget movie they feel they deserve.

The script sends up the superhero genre perfectly, parodying other films (Back To The Future, etc), but still managing to feel original in its own right. The animation is of a unique style that really works for an animated superhero movie, and even though I probably wouldn't watch the TV show, I really found this film fun and much better than I thought it had an right of being. It certainly isn't "just for teens".
