Cliche ridden high school sports melodrama which cemented Tom Cruise's place as an up-and-coming box office star and gave cinematographer Michael Chapman his directorial debut.
Cruise plays Stefen, a teen growing up in a small Pennsylvania town where male residents go to work in the factories if they aren't talented enough to go to university on a football scholarship.  It's kind of obvious what path Stef wants to choose.
For die hard Tom Cruise fans or American Football lovers only, for everyone else it doesn't really offer much.

Did You Know:
Tom Cruise and Lea Thompson performed a majority of their own nudity in their love scene. However, body doubles were used for insert shots. The same body doubles were also used earlier in the film for insert shots in the make-out scene in the car.
